The BCRA and the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation (DSIK) have agreed to expand their cooperation in financial education and inclusion through an agreement signed by the President of the BCRA, Miguel Ángel Pesce, and the Managing Director of the DSIK, Niclaus Bergmann.
This agreement supplements the memorandum of understanding signed in February, and seeks to strengthen the federal financial education program developed by the BCRA by improving the technological infrastructure and methodologies that have an impact on financial inclusion, giving priority to the most vulnerable sectors of the population.
Thanks to the cooperation under the memorandum of understanding, the DSIK and the BCRA have been working in the development of training courses and materials for the BCRA's program called Finance Nearby. This program includes resources on the financial and managerial aspects of productive undertakings of micro-entrepreneurs.
During the event at the BCRA, the President of the BCRA highlighted the importance of financial education: “At present, almost every adult has a bank account or an e-wallet account. Now we need them to use financial services to a larger extent,” said Pesce, and he added: “This cooperation agreement is in line with that goal, the search of financial education and integration.”
In turn, Bergmann expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “I am very pleased that we have the strongest partner in Argentina, the BCRA, and that we can expand projects through this agreement.” The Chairman of the DSIK's Board, Heinrich Haasis, mentioned the work done by the institution around the world and highlighted the cooperation efforts that have been carried out in our country.
Development of Educational Contents
This agreement provides that the DSIK and the BCRA will continue to collaborate on the development of contents and teaching materials, as well as technological tools for the implementation of the BCRA's education programs, with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Financial Regulations Deputy General Management Office of the BCRA and the Regional Office of the DSIK in Argentina will be in charge of implementing the agreement.
